February 12, 2012In the last week I’ve been talking to a number of businesses in different parts of the UK. All are experiencing a marked slow down in business and all expect it to be a tough year. The same question kept coming up ‘What can we do to improve things?’
There’s often a knee jerk reaction to cut prices but my view is that it’s not just about that. Prices need to be at a level that sustain your business but offer a fair deal to your customers. In the retail market some of the most successful brands are not the cheapest. Instead they offer quality, value and style – an extra element that is aspirational or inspirational – the compelling emotive factor that seals the deal.

February 7, 2012In a few short years the web has become a one-stop shop for many of us. Remember the days when we had to get out of our chairs to look for a phone number? Not any more. With the advent of Yell.com and Google Maps we can look up phone numbers and directions. We can see friends’ wedding photos, listen to radio stations around the world, check today’s currency exchange and find just about anything else we ever wanted to know.

January 31, 2012Every now then we look in the mirror and think to ourselves “is that a grey hair?” or “I didn’t have that wrinkle yesterday, did I?”. We see ourselves and those close to us so often that we don’t notice those little changes that have happened, those little imperfections appearing.
